The ADACP Curriculum – Seven Core Areas
The ADACP requires approximately 34 Core credits across seven curriculum areas, plus at least 6 Elective credits to reach the 40-credit minimum. Well-rounded candidates typically earn 44–55+ credits across the two-year program.

Program access; policies, practices, and procedures; effective communication and auxiliary aids; web/digital access and the 2024 DOJ rule; service animals; grievance procedures and complaint resolution.
C — Title I: Employment & Human Resources
7 credits

D — Physical Access & the Built Environment
5 credits
2010 ADA Standards; new construction and alteration provisions; path-of-travel obligations; program access for existing facilities; self-evaluations and transition plans.

F — Annual Legal & Practice Updates
3 credits/year — dual credit ADACP + AADAC
The Annual Legal Update Plenary opens every conference: significant ADA cases, regulatory changes, and enforcement trends from the past year. The Closing Plenary — Round Tables of Hot Topics — faculty-facilitated discussions following where participants and current issues lead. Both sessions run at every conference and carry dual credit toward ADACP and AADAC renewal.
G — Inter-Conference Webinar Series (W1–W9)
9 credits – required Core
Nine Core webinars delivered January 2027 through May 2027 — between Conference 1 and Conference 2. All sessions will be delivered live and archived for self-study. Self-study attendance earns full ADACP credit. All 9 Core webinars must be completed before Conference 2.

How the ADACP Curriculum Serves Every Sector
Every ADA coordinator works in a sector. The ADACP Core curriculum is designed so that its legal foundation and compliance skills apply directly in every sector. Elective sessions then provide targeted depth for your specific environment. The table below shows the connection. Many coordinators operate across multiple settings — the elective pool is designed for that breadth.
| Your Sector | Core Curriculum — Directly Applicable | Elective Sessions — Targeted Depth |
|---|---|---|
| Higher Education | Program access; reasonable accommodation process; effective communication; grievance procedures; web access / 2024 DOJ rule; ethics and professional judgment. | ADA Basics for HE / OCR Expectations; Fundamental Alteration & Undue Burden; OCR Investigations & Athletics; Disability Services Leadership; Student Conduct & Students of Concern. |
| Healthcare | Effective communication and auxiliary aids; service animals; program access; physical access; grievance procedures; ADA/Title II framework. | Accessible Services, Communication & Emergency Care; Section 504 Integration; Medical Diagnostic Equipment; Mental Health Access & Long-Term Care. |
| Law Enforcement | Title II obligations; program access; reasonable modifications; effective communication; grievance procedures; ADA legal framework and enforcement. | ADA in Policing, Arrests & Investigations (Parts 1 & 2); Criminal Justice Employment — LE, Corrections & Courts. |
| Corrections | Title II obligations; program access; reasonable modifications; physical access; self-evaluations and transition plans; grievance procedures. | Intake, Housing, Programs & Disability Classification; Advanced Corrections Programming; Reentry Planning; ADA Leadership in Correctional Settings. |
| State & Local Judicial | Program access; effective communication; grievance procedures; physical access and transition plans; ADA coordinator role. | State & Local Judicial: Parts 1 & 2 — program access in courts, juror accommodations, courtroom access, self-evaluations for court facilities. |
| Public Services & Facilities | Title II obligations; program access; reasonable modifications; grievance procedures; web and digital access; self-evaluations. | Public Services Sector — Government Programs & Public Access; Emergency Preparedness; ADA Coordinator Policy Library. |

The Core curriculum gives every coordinator a solid grounding in the ADA principles that apply in their sector. Electives are the opportunity to go deeper — and broader. Candidates are encouraged to build elective credits that reflect the full range of their responsibilities, not just their primary sector.
